Valeriy Chuikov

Since 1992 lives and works in England

Born in 1949 in Zaparozhie, Ukraine. Son of People’s Artist of Ukraine Evgeniy Chuikov

1963-1967 Studied at Kiev Republican Special Art College, under stewardship of T. Yablonskaya and V Chekanuk

Graduated from Kiev State Art Institute in 1974 and was awarded a scholarship by the Artists’ Union to do a post-graduate course.

Member of the Artists’ Union of USSR since 1976.

In 1976 awarded the “Best Portrait for the last 5 years” at the National Exhibition.

In 1977 awarded First Prize in painting at the Republican Exhibition of Ukrainian Artists.

In 1978 awarded Second Prize in painting at the Republican Exhibition of Ukrainian Artists.

In 1982 awarded the title of Laureate of State Award.

In 2005 was awarded for the lifetime achievement and contribution to Human Rights by the United Nations.

In 2011 awarded the international “Order of Queen Anne” for services to Ukraine and cultural contribution.

In 2011 awarded a diploma by the “Knights Legion of Ukraine” for cultural contribution and development of international relations.

In 2011 awarded special recognition by the National Center for International Relations for contribution to international cultural ties.

Since 1970 the artist took part in numerous National Exhibitions in the USSR, Ukraine and Europe.

In the United Kingdom he exhibited his works at Alberty Gallery, Omell Galleries, Roy Miles Gallery, New Grafton Gallery, Gallery on the Green, the Bruton Street Gallery and others.

In 2011, to celebrate 35 years of Valeriy Chuikov’s artistic life, Kiev State Museum of Art held an exhibition of works by Evgeniy Chuikov and Valeriy Chuikov.

Works are included in the National Ukrainian Art Museum, The Russian Ministry of Culture Collection, The State Art Collection of the Moscow Art Academy, British Embassy in Kiev, Private Collections of Archbishop of Ukraine Philaret, Baroness Smith, Chairman of FIFA Joseph Blatter, UEFA President Michel Platini and others in Europe, the USA and Canada.
